B.J. Penn will have some extra money for retirement. Following the Hawaiian's brutal 15-minute decision loss to Nick Diaz at UFC 137 -- and subsequent retirement from mixed marital arts -- UFC President Dana White has awarded each fighter "Fight of the Night" bonuses. Both are set to receive an additional $75,000 for their performance.
Also flying home $75,000 richer will be Spike TV participants Bart Palaszewski and Donald Cerrone. The pair emerged from Saturday night as the winners of "Knockout of the Night" and "Submission of the Night."
Cerrone has now earned all three "Fight Night" bonuses this year after just four fights in the UFC. "Cowboy"'s latest coup came with a rear-naked choke victory over heralded German kickboxer Dennis Siver two minutes into their featured lightweight bout.
Meanwhile Palaszewski picked up his check after knocking Tyson Griffin out cold with a stunning flurry midway through the opening round of their featherweight contest. For complete post-fight UFC 137 coverage, stay tuned to MMA Nation.
