Georges St. Pierre Expected To Be Out 4-6 Weeks, Targeting Early 2012 Return

While the UFC may be bemoaning their misfortune at the present moment, the situation with Georges St. Pierre could have been much worse. According to reports from Lance Pugmire of The Los Angeles Times, the longtime welterweight kingpin managed to avoid tearing his medial collateral ligament. St. Pierre reportedly hopes to recover within four-to-six weeks and is targeting a return in early 2012.

As previously reported, title challenger Carlos Condit has elected to sit out until St. Pierre is ready to go. Fortunately, it doesn't appear he will be forced to wait for too long. The last thing the UFC brass want is another Rashad Evans situation resting on their plates.

UFC 137 is slated for October 29th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas Nevada. MMA Nation will continue to update the situation as more news becomes available.
