ROUND 1 - Lawler comes out blazing from southpaw, but Amagov takes him down. Lawler stands briefly before Amagov drags him back down. Amagov is deducted a point. Lawler times a flying knee that grazes Amagov, but does enough to rock him. Amagov goes belly down and Lawler pounces. That's it. The referee stops it there.

ROUND 1 - Both fighters open orthodox. Lawal shoots for a single, picks Larkin up and dumps him on his back. Right hands on top from Lawal plus short elbows. Larkin tries to stand, but Lawal traps the ankle and presses his hips back down. Larkin working from full guard. Lawal is going to work on Larkin, both body and head. From half guard, referee Winslow stands them up. Larkin is hugely hesitant and Lawal is all too happy to land a shot here or there.

ROUND 2 - Lawal eats a right and several more of them as he tries to tree top, but driving forward Lawal puts Larkin on his back again. From there Lawal starts hammering Larkin with unanswered right hands. Larkin has no answer and is getting abused. That's it, the referee stops the bout.

Mein stuffs the high crotch, but can't shake Woodley off of him. Referee Tognoni separates them. Mein switching stances. Short uppercut by Mein lands, but now Woodley lands an inside trip. Woodley working from halfguard, but Mein staying active on bottom to stay off the cage. Hard elbow from Woodley. Woodley hunting the arm triangle, but Mein stands.

ROUND 2 - Outside leg kick from Mein lands, but is nearly caught. Hard overhand right from Woodley finds the mark and does so with authority. Body lock takedown from Woodley puts Mein on his back. Mein being pressed into the cage and not able to do much but avoid or prevent the worst of it. Mein driving elbows to the top of Woodley's head, but no blood appears to be pouring.

ROUND 3 - Mein attempts a jumping knee. It misses and Woodley uses that as an opportunity to get Mein to the floor. This round is rather dreadful as Woodley does little but try to keep Mein planted on the floor. Referee Tognoni stands them up right as Mein was working a kimura. The two fighters clinch again but Mein is short on time. Mein tries a trip, but Woodley whizzers.

ROUND 1 - Stinson pressuring early against Saffiedine, but so far can't land anything major. Both fighters standing southpaw. Saffiedine changing stances early in the fight, but he is being stalked by Stinson. Saffiedine working the early inside leg kick. Right hook and partial head kick from Saffiedine finds the mark. Stinson catches Saffiedine with an elbow on the exit, but Saffiedine clinches again and trips Stinton to the mat. Stinton attempts the armbar, but can't get it. Saffiedine is bleeding badly over his right eye. Left hook from Stinson rattles Saffiedine, but he recovers. The two clinch.

ROUND 2 - Stinson stalking Saffiedine to open the round. Head kick by Saffiedine blocked. Inside leg kick from Saffiedine followed by a driving double leg takedown. Stinson working from full guard now, but Saffiedine not doing significant damage on top. Stinson bleeding now, although it's not entirely clear from where. Stinton has no answer for Saffiedine's top control.

ROUND 3 - Third round opens with an inadvertent groin shot. The bout is temporarily halted. The bout begins again. Huge double leg from Saffiedine puts Stinson on his back. Stinson postures for an armbar, but Saffiedine shucks it off. Stinson is being pressed into the fence and is getting controlled and beat on. Short elbows from wrist control by Saffiedine find the mark. Saffiedine and Stinson are both bleeding now. Referee Mazzagati stands them up. Stinson attacking with what little life he has left.

ROUND 1 - Both fighters open orthodox. Left hook over the top from Burrell finds the mark, but Terry returns the favor. Stinging jab from Burrell. Terry changes levels and presses Burrell into the fence. And Terry gets the scoop takedown. Burrell briefly stands, but Terry runs the pipe on a single and moves to mount. In a demonstration of strength, Burrell posts on his hand and sits his hips out to escape mount and ultimately stand. Terry stays on top, though, with a front head lock and now moving to Burrell's back. Burrell stands again, but stuffs Terry's single attempt. Burrell tried to hit a switch, but misses it entirely. Burrell is able to stand at the very end of the round.

ROUND 2 - Terry fires a right, but eats a right from Burrell. Right hand from Terry buzzes Burrell briefly, which gives him just enough time to press Burrell into the fence and score a nice scoop slam. Burrell goes base down and is able to stand and separate. Decent uppercut from Terry scores. Nice outside leg kick from Burrell. Burrell fires a right uppercut and it lands. Terry shots in the middle of the cage and it's stuffed, but it's enough to put Terry into the fence and after a struggle from overcommiting on the turn, gets the takedown.

Hard outside leg kick and left hook from Villante. Villante catches a kick and hammers Smith with a right. As Smith tries to recover and even go for a leglock, Villante hammerfists him with authority. Referee Winslow stops the fight, arguably early.

ROUND 1 - Both fighters come out orthodox, but Spang is considerably taller than Legere. Front kick from Spang is caught by Legere and he's lifted and slammed to the mat. Spang postures for an armbar, but lets it go. Spang trying to wall walk, but he cant scoot his hips back. Legere working ground and pound on top; decent, but not dominating. Legere stands and passes to side. Legere attempts mount, but Spang stops him at half guard. Spang recovers full guard, but he's eating a modest if steady diet of ground and pound. Spang pushes Legere back and stands, but Legere is quick to clinch. Spang jumps guillotine and it appears Legere nearly taps, but the round ends before anything can happen.

ROUND 2 - Legere eats a jumping knee, but uses it to catch Spang and drive him to the mat. Round two picks up where round one left off as Spang is in full guard even if Legere isn't unleashing anything particularly savage on top. In a scramble Spang tries to land a triangle, but Legere abandons the pass in favor of returning to full guard. The two stand. Legere whizzers to avoid a takedown, but Legere presses Spang into the fence. He sits his hips in, picks up Spang and dumps him in front of his own corner.

ROUND 3 - Legere shoots after Spang throws a one-two, but Spang stuffs the shot. Hard knee to the middle from Spang. Legere with a nice right hand, but Spang fires back with a right to the body. Legere shoots a double, is stuffed, but switches to an inside trip and gets it. Legere isn't busy enough and the referee stands the two up. Legere grabs a single and tries to kick out the post, but can't get it. However, Legere pushes Spang into the fence and from there double leg scoops him. Spang able to stand and a few punches send to a terrible shot. Spang stuffs it and takes Legere's back. Spang attempts a rear naked choke, but can't get it. Before the round ends, Spang falls forward and Legere gets on top, ending the round in mount.

ROUND 1 - Both fighters open orthodox and Martinez is active right away. Right overhand from Martinez, but he eats a left hook. Several outside leg kicks from Martinez. And now a switch middle kick. Martinez just getting out of the way of Payan's left hook. Martinez attempts an ankle pick, then a tree top, but nothing works. Left hook lands for Payan at the end of a three-punch combo. Crisp left hook from Payan followed by an outside leg kick. Martinez presses Payan into the fence, but the double leg fails. The two exchange strikes from there, Payan getting the best of it.

ROUND 2 - Payan's jab starting to have strong effect. Payan pressing the action, but hasn't landed anything truly substantial yet. Outside leg kick now for Payan. Martinez charges in and Payan makes him pay with a left hook and a knee. Martinez clinches with Payan, but Payan shrugs it off. Martinez's output has declined substantially. Hard jab again from Payan. Right hand shovel punch snaps the head back of Martinez.

ROUND 3 - Martinez opens up with a mixture of kicks, but that lasts only 30 seconds before this round picks up where the last left off. Hard uppercut to the body from Payan and a right hand at the end of an exchange. Right straight from Payan snaps Martinez's head then Payan lands a left hook to the body plus another right straight. Martinez switches southpaw, likely going sugarfoot. Now back orthodox. Outside leg kick now from Payan and this is turning into abuse. Payan goes back to the jab in the final minute. Right hand to the body, left hook from Payan is offered off twice. Martinez shoots as the round ends, but Payan stuffs it.

Today is January 7th, 2012 and beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET tonight, the first Strikeforce event of the new year kicks off: Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine. Today's main event is a middleweight title defense between champion Luke Rockhold of American Kickboxing Academy and new middleweight challenger as well UFC veteran Keith Jardine. The bout is scheduled for five, five-minute rounds. Also appearing on today's card is a light heavyweight clash between Muhammed Lawal and Lorenz Larkin, a middleweight bout between Robbie Lawler and Adlan Amagov and more.
So, how can you watch tonight's event? This fight card has a few options, although none of them are as simple as watching the UFC. But if there were a weekend to watch Showtime, this would be it.
Typically, you have pay-per-view alternatives. For DirecTV subscribers, you should be able to purchase tonight's show on channel 122 for $34.95. It is not clear which cable providers offer this program in high definition. Call your cable provider for information and options.
And now, the television options. Per the terms of the new Strikeforce deal, the undercard for tonight's fights will air live on Showtime Extreme beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The main card portion of the event airs on Showtime. That will begin as aforementioned at 10:00 p.m. ET. Here's the good news: this weekend is a 'free preview' weekend on Showtime. Want Showtime even if you don't subscribe? No problem. Just find the channel on your dial and you'll get it through Sunday. In other words, you've got no reason to pass up tonight's action.

Unlike the UFC which offers a searchable database (http://bars.ufc.com/) of bars that carry their events, Strikeforce doesn't have any resource or database of participating bars. I have observed that the bars carrying UFC are generally the same as those advertising they are carrying Strikeforce. My suggestion? Use the UFC bar finder to locate a bar close to you, call the manager and see if they're carrying the event.

The fifth main card bout of the night at Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine is the main event, Luke Rockhold vs. Keith Jardine. This is a middleweight bout, meaning 185 pounds. This bout is airing on Showtime. The referee in charge of the action is Herb Dean.

ROUND 1 - Rockhold opens southpaw, Jardine is orthodox. Jardine throwing inside and outside leg kicks early. Jardine eats a middle kick and clinches. Jardine looking for a high crotch but can't get it. Rockhold pressing Jardine into the fence and as Jardine breaks away is nailed with an elbow. Spinning back kick lands perfectly on Jardine. Jardine fires off a right hand and it lands clean. Jardine switching stances and landing hard kicks to the outside of Rockhold's legs. Rockhold lands a hard right and Jardine is temporarily hurt, but recovers quickly. However, Rockhold quickly lands a right hand that hurts Jardine and he pounces. Jardine hangs on for a few more strikes and even stands for a time, but arguably a late stoppage by referee Dean.
