Jan 21, 2012 - UFC welterweight Josh Neer (33-10-0, 6-6 UFC) has complained about his opponents taking him down to avoid his stand up game in some of his previous UFC bouts but last night in his UFC on FX bout against Duane "Bang" Ludwig (21-12, 4-3 UFC), it was Neer who went for the take down. It was a wise decision too. Ludwig was pasting Neer on the feet, out landing him 27-7 according to CompuStrike. Once Neer got the fight on the ground though it was an entirely different bout and it didn't take Neer long to put Ludwig to sleep with a tight guillotine choke.

Ludwig was just awarded the official UFC record for quickest KO for his 2006 0:04 second KO of Jonathan Goulet and he was looking to KO Neer. One left hand staggered Neer, but the canny veteran pointed out to the ref that his mouthpiece was out and got a break at a crucial time.
Once the action resumed, Neer was quick with the take down and the ensuing submission.
