The UFC will be making its yearly trip across the Pacific.
This week promotion officials confirmed rumors of UFC on FX 2 taking place at Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia. The card is scheduled for Saturday afternoon, but will air live on Friday night primetime in North America due to differing time zones.
Both previous Australian events -- UFC 110 and UFC 127 -- were held at the 21,000-seat Allphones Arena (formerly named Acer Arena), averaging an attendance of 17,808 and total gate of $3 million.
A red-hot welterweight match-up between Martin Kampmann (18-5) and Thiago Alves (19-8) has been tapped as the night's headlining attraction. Both Kampmaan and Alves recently broke out of slumps with impressive wins over Rick Story and Papi Abedi, respectively.
Likewise, the card is also set to feature the semi-finals of the UFC's inaugural four-man flyweight tournament. Number-one ranked flyweight Ian McCall (11-2) makes his UFC debut against top-5 bantamweight Demetrious Johnson (9-2) and perennial contender Joseph Benavidez (15-2) welcomes Shooto champion Yasuhiro Urushitani (19-4-6) into the Octagon.
UFC on FX 2 is slated for March 3rd, 2012 and will air live on FX.
